This book, which takes place in the Salem witch trials, tells the story of Kezia, a thirteen year old servant girl whose mistress, Lyndia, gets accused as a witch.

But Lyndia is a witch, and it's up to Kezia to rescue her from the terrible fate which awaits her. As Kezia soon learns, however, that there are higher stakes than she had previously thought. It soon appears that someone wants something from Lyndia, and will do anything to get it.

But who is this person? what do they want, and why?
